2026 NTU Conference Oct. 22, 2026, Bowie State University, Save the Date

Progressive Life Center (PLC) invites practitioners, educators, researchers, leaders, and artists, to submit proposals for workshop presentations at the 2026 NTU™ Conference.

Since 2019, PLC’s Dr. Frederick B. Phillips NTU™ Conference has brought together individuals committed to culturally grounded practice, healing, leadership, and community engagement. This year’s theme, Choosing Wellness During Turbulent Times, explores how NTU™ principles can help individuals, families, organizations, and communities navigate uncertainty while practicing harmony, balance, interconnectedness, and authenticity.

We are seeking engaging, interactive workshop presentations that explore the application of NTU™ principles within one of the following topic areas:

  • Domestic Violence
  • The Arts
  • Leadership
  • Mental Health
  • Self-Care for Practitioners
  • Self-Care for Clients
  • Artificial Intelligence in Human Services
  • Intergenerational Healing
  • The Meaning of Kente Cloth (20-30-minute presentation opportunity)

Workshop sessions should be designed for approximately 75–90 minutes and should provide practical insights, discussion opportunities, and meaningful participant engagement.

Presenters selected for the conference will receive an honorarium.

Important Presenter Requirement

The NTU™ Conference is designed to deepen participants’ understanding and application of NTU™ principles. Therefore, all workshop proposals must demonstrate a clear and meaningful connection to NTU™.

Presenters should either:

  • Be certified in NTU™, or
  • Possess a strong working knowledge of NTU™ principles and their application.

Workshop proposals should not simply address the topic area (leadership, mental health, domestic violence, etc.). Rather, presenters must clearly explain how NTU™ principles, philosophy, practices, or frameworks will be woven throughout the presentation.

Within the abstract, presenters are asked to describe:

  • Their experience with NTU™
  • How NTU™ relates to their proposed topic
  • Specific ways NTU™ concepts will be incorporated into the workshop

Proposals that do not demonstrate a substantial connection to NTU™ may not be selected.Inter

Conference Proposal Details

  • Max. file size: 2 GB.
  • Please provide a brief overview of your proposed presentation (250–500 words). Include: 1) The target audience, 2) Learning objectives and anticipated outcomes, 3) A brief instructional agenda or session outline, 4) How the presentation relates to this year’s conference theme, Choosing Wellness During Turbulent Times, and 5) A clear description of how NTU™ principles, philosophy, and/or practices will be integrated throughout the presentation. ***Please note that proposals should demonstrate a substantial connection to NTU™ and not merely reference NTU™ concepts in passing.***
  • Your abstract and the proposal you submit will be reviewed by our selection committee toward your possible invitation to become a conference presenter. Your submission through this web form does not grant any recipient permission to use of your intellectual property beyond this extent.
