3/23/20 Message from Our President/CEO

Dear Friends,

As we navigate this unprecedented situation, the safety of the children and youth we serve remains our primary focus. COVID-19 is presenting challenges unlike any we have ever faced, but we remain committed to helping our families navigate their individual challenges, even as they are now compounded by this global crisis.

As people do, and certainly like many of you, we are adapting. Staff is teleworking to fulfill administrative needs and we are making innovative adjustments to our delivery of essential services to minimize direct contact with others. When a phone call or video chat isn’t enough and our physical presence is needed, we are using extreme caution by limiting the duration of visits and following the CDC’s guidelines around social distancing, hand washing and respiratory etiquette. It is indeed a balance.

As you might imagine, the consequence of this pandemic is impacting our most vulnerable families particularly hard. The growing need, resulting from the chaos of closures, cancellations, social disconnection and uncertainty, has been demonstrated through a significant uptick in overnight calls to our foster parent crisis line. While we continue to adjust and shift our efforts to meet these changing needs, we will keep you posted and we may ask for your help.

Though this is a difficult time for us all, I am heartened by the steadfast commitment and earnest caring of PLC staff, our service partners and members of our community.

Please take care of yourself and each other, and keep the faith.

With warmest regards,

Dr. Laurence Jackson, President and CEO
