Peter Fitts, LCSW-C, has 30 years of clinical experience as a therapist, clinical supervisor, and manager of human service/child welfare programs. Mr. Fitts teaches at Howard University and maintains a private practice. Previously, he served as PLC’s Maryland Regional Director for Foster Care and Independent Living. Mr. Fitts received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Xavier University in New Orleans, Louisiana and his Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Howard University. His training at Johns Hopkins Phipps Psychiatric Department was his foundation to a greater understanding and desire to treat various mental health challenges. His training has focused on working with juvenile offenders, foster and adoptive youth, couples, and adults, individuals with abuse and neglect impact, and bariatric weight loss patients. Mr. Fitts is an Adjunct Faculty Professor at Howard University School of Social Work in Washington, D.C. and a past Adjunct Professor at Simmons College School of Social Work in Boston, Massachusetts. He previously served on the Board Secretary of The Foster and Adoptive Parent Advocacy Center (FAPAC) in Washington, D.C. Mr. Fitts operates from a strengths based perspective with experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Based Therapy, and African Centered Therapy. He is a Board Certified, Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Clinical, as well as a Board Certified Social Work Supervisor in the state of Maryland.
