Dr. Frederick B. Phillips (1946-2018), PLC Founder 

Dr. Phillips, was a licensed psychologist and social worker, having also received advanced training in the area of clinical hypnosis, forensic psychology, and executive coaching. The Philadelphia native attended Pennsylvania State University (BA), the University of Pennsylvania (MSW), and Fielding Graduate University (Psy.D).

His forty years of professional experience included positions as a Captain in the US Army, Social Worker, Assistant Professor, and Community-Clinical Psychologist. Dr. Phillips founded Progressive Life Center and served for 25 years as its President/CEO.

Dr. Phillips was a clinician in private practice for more than forty years and offered executive coaching. He pioneered the development of NTU Healing and Psychotherapy which is an African-centered, spiritually-based approach to healing. He is the author of nine professional articles and book chapters.

Dr. Phillips conducted workshops in organizational development, executive coaching, marital and family issues, violence prevention, team building, stress management, cultural diversity and psychotherapy training. He served as an expert in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and as a forensic expert witness in the areas of competency to stand trial, insanity defense, adoption, and child custody. He served as a consultant to state and federal government, various colleges and universities, radio and television stations, print media, and private corporations. Dr. Phillips also served as the national president of the Association of Black Psychologists.
